At least once a week, my daughter and I like going to Downtown City (ie. Savannah, GA). We try and walk around to new places, go to a new store, see a new square. Inevitably we end up on the River, Annika’s favorite place.
We went through some back alley’s to check out some new locations for some upcoming shoots, and it just reminded me why I love working in Savannah! I can shoot in beautiful parks, gorgeous beaches, and funky urban back alleys…..all in the same town!
Now…while I love my daughter, and thinks she looks down right adorable…I would LOVE to find some new clients to photograph against this incredible backdrop. I am looking for seniors or couples who are looking for some fun, urban shoots downtown. If you are up for it, give me a call or drop me a line and we will talk of a sweet deal!
Here is just a few of the many locations I found…

I haven’t gone anywhere, but the site has made some changes….some things will look the same (great blog site to keep you up to date) and some will look a lot different (new shopping cart for clients, and a new portfolio gallery)
I took Christmas and the two months after off for 1. some rest and rejuvenation and 2. to get the new site launched. Of course, I can’t turn down maternity and newborn sessions…and wouldn’t you know? We have a baby boom here in the Low Country! That is ok…I love em.
So here we are, ready to go. Care to join me?

A very popular item, which has been a classic for a while now, is the canvas print.
A canvas print is beyond exquisite. It has a fabulous texture and the mounting on the frame gives it a very upscale look that will sure to be a centerpiece in your house. Even better, it is ready to hang, no frame needed!

Gardening for the Andersons is in our blood. My grandfather was a gardener, my mom is a gardener, my husband has a horticultural degree, and I love gardening. So I had no doubt that Annika would become a lover of gardening as well. I am new to this zone 8 thing here in Savannah, Georgia. I am hoping to get to grown some new plants down here.
When I went out to get all the supplies to start our garden this year, I picked up three “kits” for kids to have their own garden. She gets to grow a sunflower, a pumpkin and a watermelon. She was so excited, she kept shouting, “I get my own garden, I get my own garden!” She couldn’t wait to get started. Of course, right after the seeds were planted, she wanted to know when they would grow. “I am going to go take a nap and when I wake up, they will be plants!” Yeah, right.
Are they ready now Mom? Can I keep them by my bed so I can watch them grow?
As we explore gardening here in Savannah, I will continue to document our progress throughout the spring, summer and fall.

This is a new product we are offering this year. This is a Float Wrap! This product is very unique and really helps make your portraits stand out as they appear to “float” on your wall! It will definitely be a conversation piece when friends and family come over. Sizes start at 8×10 and go all the way to a 20×30! Make sure to ask to see a sample at your session so you can see for yourself how special this product is.

It is easy to find things to be thankful for in my small little universe when there is so much tragedy happening in Haiti right now.
When I feel sad that my poor Annika has pneumonia, I remember she is alive with me…we have good health insurance…she will be better soon.
When I feel angry that my electric bill doubled this month, I remember that I have heat when I am cold….that I have clean water to drink.
When I feel depressed that I can’t buy those cute flip flops I saw at the mall, I remember that I have clothes on my back…that I have a roof over my head.
When I feel lonely because my family and most of my friends are a thousand miles away, I remember that they are still with me, even if they are far away….that I will see them again soon.
I am thankful for so much…so many things that are easy to forget.
What are you thankful for?

When I was pregnant with my daughter four years ago I felt like most pregnant women….I felt bloated and well, fat. The last thing I wanted was a photograph of me looking like this. Someone would turn the camera on me, and I would turn away. I believe someone caught me at my baby shower, which would be the only photographic record of me carrying Annika.
I look back now and it brings me to tears. I can’t believe I let those superficial reasons stop me having a photograph taken of me carrying my princess. With Annika likely being our only child, I won’t be able to get those images back.
So when Dana contacted me about doing a maternity shoot, I was excited. But when she told me she had decided pretty last minute (she is due any day now!) to have these done, I was so thankful she decided to do it. She had the same worries most pregnant women have, but in the end, she knew she wanted to document this important time in her life.
So here are Dana and Griffin…anxiously awaiting the birth of their own little prince….and I am so thankful they chose me to document such an important time.

This new mommy was my first maternity session…I was so lucky that she trusted me to capture her pregnancy, and even luckier when she brought me in to her home to photograph her new baby boy. As soon as I saw his nursery, I was in complete awe. They had decorated it so well! It had a great color scheme, and unique touches…it was so cute it made me want another baby just to decorate a nursery again!
This shoot brought on another first…my first pee-pee
I had been lucky that I hadn’t any any newborns go potty on any of my blankets. I shouldn’t have mentioned it, because sure enough, as soon as he was diaperless and laying on the warm blanket, he let go. No worries though!
There are many more to come, but here is a sneak peek. I had to edit the photographs with the dogs first actually. They were the last ones I shot, almost an afterthought. We weren’t sure how it would go, but I must say, it makes a nice portrait of all the “kids” in the I Family.

My time in between Christmas and New Years was spent in San Diego. I wish I could say it was all fun, but the purpose of the trip was to lay my Father in Law to rest at Fort Rosecrans. We would give anything to have him here with us again…but if there is a place you want to spend eternity, it is Fort Rosecrans. Both of Brian’s grandfathers, one of his grandmothers, and now his father are all laid to rest here. Here is a collage of some images from Fort Rosecrans. George has a wonderful view of downtown San Diego with the mountains in the background…I am sure he couldn’t have picked a better spot himself.
