I took Annika to the Oatland Island Wildlife Center in Savannah, GA for their Weekly Toddler Tuesday. This was our first trip out and it was wonderful. This weeks theme was caterpillars and butterflies.
They started out on the carpet, singing songs and reading a book. They read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, which Annika can recite by heart she loves it so much. However, being on the carpet, surrounded by lots of kids, you can see she quickly started getting anxious. I will have to take her out more often I think!
Then they got to create a butterfly. They could either color or glue pieces. Annika started coloring, but quickly wanted to glue (she has never used glue sticks before…she was so excited!).
Finally, they got to eat like caterpillars and butterflies by “munching” on Fruit Loops and Goldfish crackers, and “sipping nectar”.
