I took a very small break from all things professional while my parents were in town visiting. This was their third visit since we moved to Savannah last year. I really think they would be right at home here if they ever made the move…who couldn’t feel at home in a city as beautiful as Savannah?
A favorite place to go is of course, Tybee Island. I took them to a new part of the beach this time for the sole purpose of taking some portraits of them.
Which is why the title of my post here is, “It’s Never Too Late.”
It is easy to make the call when you have a baby to get newborn portraits done. As your child grows, you document the years with new pictures. The older they get, the less often you seem to get photographs done…am I right? or am I right? Senior Year comes and the obligations to get portraits done arise again. Finally, you have an engagement session, and of course a wedding photographer on hand to document the day.
I get it…you want to document the big changes….the momentous events. But what about portraits for portraits sake? My parents hadn’t had pictures done in forever!!! I mean, why would they. They had a picture taken at my wedding, at my sister’s wedding…but that is it. As their daughter, I wanted portraits that I could remember them with. I wanted to hang a gorgeous portrait of my parents on my wall amongst all the portraits of my daughter and her cousins.
It is never too late to get portraits done. You don’t need an occasion. You don’t need a reason. As Nike says, Just Do It.
