This blog came about because I am always getting friends and family ask,

“Why is my picture always blurry?”
“How can I get my kid to smile?”
“Why won’t my camera focus?”
“What should I wear for my session?”
“Can you make me look 20lbs lighter?”

I love to talk (or in this case write) and I love to teach.
So I figure I can share what I know….or seek out the answers for you and give them to you in Bring It In Focus.

The word focus has two meanings here. One, the more literal meaning, bring my pictures in focus. Make them look great! The second, is the general focus on life. Being a stay at home mom, a work from home mom, small business owner…whatever you want to call me, has some challenges. So I will also be sharing how I, and other moms out there, keep the focus on what is important and how to balance work and home.

Kesley with Photographers For contacted me a couple weeks ago, asking if I would be interested in being interviewed for her site about my work with Inspiration Through Art.

Well of course!
Photographers For aims to connect portrait and wedding photographers with the  photo centric, local charities who need their help. They also feature photographers who are creatively using their businesses and their skills for the benefit of others.

 Not only was I able to talk about my work with Inspiration Through Art, but also the work I have done with St. Baldrick’s Foundation and the Susan G. Komen for the cure.

Are you a Little Bit Country? Or a Little Bit Rock-n-Roll?

Which do you prefer?
An edgy urban session, or a more relaxed country session?

Considering Lake County has one of the most expansive forest preserve systems in Illinois, there are so many natural resources in our own backyards! With rolling hills, tall trees, lush grasses, we have everything we need to create that dreamy, relaxed portrait.

What we also have available to us, are so many quaint small towns, with fantastic buildings and back alleys to give us an edgy urban session….not to mention we are located right between two great big cities, Chicago and Milwaukee!
I have photographed in downtown Antioch, Libertyville, and Lake Forest….and would love to come to your town too!

A little bit country

A little bit rock-n-roll

As I take this winter season to gear up for the upcoming rush of all the children, families, seniors and couples I will photograph in the next year, I will be doing some retooling and revamping. So make sure you are checking back for all the greatest updates. My “baby” should be debuting in the next month or so, I can’t wait!

In order to keep my creative juices flowing, I am working on a personal project. As much as I love creating portraits for others, there are times I just need to feed my creative soul and photograph for myself. So I started the eighty-five of eighty-five project. I will be photographing for 85 straight days using my 85mm lens. It is my favorite lens, so this should be easy….the 85 days straight will be difficult, but I am determined to do it!
