I Need Some Structure – 10 on 10

My self imposed theme for this month’s 10 on 10 was structures.

I set off in the car one gloomy day to check out the various structures in my area…trying to find anything interesting.

Why are barns so inviting for pictures?

I don’t get it either, yet here I am, snapping away at them.

The other day, over on my new blog Bring It In Focus, I highlighted how to minimize the dreaded double chin.

No matter what your size, posing at an unflattering angle and holding your head incorrectly will not flatter anyone. So I posed a little tutorial on how to look your best!

Here is my fabulous sister demonstrating for me….head on over and take a look. I suspect before our session you will be in the mirror trying these tips out for looking your best!

So, I finally got a new headshot done…ugh.
Why are we all so critical of self portraits?

Anyway, I can never decide, which is better. I almost always choose black and white, it seems more flattering.

What do you think?
Which should I use as my new headshot?

Spring Macros – Ten On Ten

Time for another monthly edition of 10 on 10!

Last month you got to see my 10 favs from my trip back to Savannah. Before that, it was a day in the life of Miss Thing.

This month, with spring here I thought I would post 10 macros I took yesterday from my garden.

If you are a fan of Pinterest (and if you aren’t, what are you waiting for???!!!), odds are you have seen this Easter Egg Garland idea floating around recently.

Well, being the wanna be crafty mom, I decided to try this out with my own daughter.

Ahhhh, grand plans.

We started with trying to blow up the water balloons….which proved to be VERY difficult, so if you can find regular small balloons, get those instead.

Next, we wrapped the balloons with the flour/starch mixture and embroidery floss.
We tried everything to get it to not knot up…but to no avail.
But we managed it in the end
(with a few choice words from me)

Next the dreaded drying part….you know, the time where your child asks EVERY FIVE SECONDS

“are they dry yet?”
“are they dry yet?”
“are they dry yet?”
“are they dry yet?”

Even though we did them at night and told her they wouldn’t be dry until the morning.

But after much patience, and some serious excitement over popping the balloons the next morning, we had a cute little centerpiece.
