As a former teacher (well, I take that back, aren’t we always a teacher? Once a teacher, always a teacher…I just don’t get paid for it anymore…anyway) I have all that inside knowledge for how to get a child to read, I did everything right as my daughter grew up, read to her every day, exposed her to lots of literature, etc.

But I have a feeling this new mom will go above and beyond every single day with her little girl!
She is a teacher as well, a reading teacher to be exact!

She has the most adorable Eric Carle themed room.
Who doesn’t love a little Very Hungry Caterpillar?

I love joining inspirational photography projects. This one was done with a group of 10 photographers, and each month we will be posting 10 on 10.

Everyone can interpret it their own way…some may post their 10 favorite images from the month….some may post 10 images from a session….some may post 10 images from an event. The best part is we are all inspired to do something each month.

So this month I went a little literal and took 10 shots of my sweet Annika doing what she does every day after school….well, except for one thing. I actually got a picture of her napping! That NEVER happens. She must have been tuckered out.

I love these photographs, not just because they are of my sweetie pie, but because I am trying to extend my photographic reach with lifestyle portraits. Trying to capture more in the moment images.

chicago newborn photographer - Love these, Britt! I wish my kindergartner would nap :) She is gorgeous!

She’s getting so big Britt. I remember when she was “just a baby”. Full on lady now!

Melissa VanLeeuwen - Love it! I really liked how you document what she does every day after school, what a great idea. Plus, you’re very brave to let Annika colour with a sharpie! I have some crazy experiences with sharpie’s and my children;)

We are lucky here in the Lake County, North Shore areas to have a great mixture of environments and locations to photograph at…..so the question you have to ask yourself is…

Are you a Little Bit Country? Or a Little Bit Rock-n-Roll?

Which do you prefer?
An edgy urban session, or a more relaxed country session?

Considering Lake County has one of the most expansive forest preserve systems in Illinois, there are so many natural resources in our own backyards! With rolling hills, tall trees, lush grasses, we have everything we need to create that dreamy, relaxed portrait.

What we also have available to us, are so many quaint small towns, with fantastic buildings and back alleys to give us an edgy urban session….not to mention we are located right between two great big cities, Chicago and Milwaukee!
I have photographed in downtown Antioch, Libertyville, and Lake Forest….and would love to come to your town too!

I will still be working with all those adorable kiddos, fun families and loving couples….but I needed a separate place for seniors to go, to get the information specific to them.

So, Britt Anderson Seniors was born.
