We have some new changes coming to the site….so bear with me while we get it all sorted!
There is nothing like being able to build your dream house!
I was hired by a couple who was having an Open House to celebrate the completion of their dream house. They have worked hard all their lives, and it was evident in all the details of this gorgeous home that that hard work paid off.
Over the course of two days, I photographed not only this beautiful house on the North Shore, but the many guests that came to celebrate with them. Not to mention, all the yummy goodies that were served!
I even got to photograph the Hanukat Ha’Bayit ceremony, which is the Dedication of the Home. A Mezuzah is fastened to the outside of the door post, and usually on the right hand side as one enters. This is because when you enter the house, it is customary to kiss your finger tips and touch the Mezuzah. The Mezuzah is actually a rolled up parchment with a Jewish blessing written on it placed inside the decorative case you see on the door post. After hanging, a prayer is recited, along with a second blessing.

I’m such a sucker for the detail shots, now I wanna snack, lol!
Ok, I am taking a quick break from editing a ton of fantastic pictures from a recent party I photographed (no worries, I will share a couple, you will NOT want to miss them, gorgeous house…anyway, I am going off topic here) to show my daughter’s Kindergarten picture from school.
Yes, I will be the first to admit, I am a portrait snob. If I was looking to print a huge image for my wall, I would not be choosing the school picture. But like so many other things in life, school pictures are that right of passage….that one thing you will look back at when you are older and giggle. Are they my most favorite, interesting pictures of Annika? Nope…but they are of my little girl, and they are precious just the same.
So go ahead, buy the smallest package when school pictures come out…then give me a call so we can get those unique, fun, fantastic shots you will want to blow up huge and hang in your living room.

It doesn’t matter who takes Annika’s photo, she is ADORABLE!! I agree that everyone should buy their child’s school photos, because they are fun to look back on and “trade” at school. I also agree that they shouldn’t be the enlargements on the wall.
My litte one just had her 1st school pictures yesterday and I am so excited to see them. I know they wont be the best pictures but it is a school picture you said it best a right of passage.
At least it’s a nice photo, not the one you want on the wall but not terrible unlike my son’s preschool photo this year! but I’m still going to buy it, just little ones and the group shot for him to remember all of his friends.
As much as I would LOVE to photograph every family and capture every moment with them at every point in the year, I simply can’t. But what I provide are the portraits, those yearly or twice yearly events in your life.
But in between those sessions, you are surely getting out your camera and capturing the every day right? Well, here is a great list provided by Creating Keepsakes for the 10 Can’t Miss Photos to Take Each Month!
So while you are waiting on your yearly session, grab that camera and capture those fleeting moments! There are many locations all around the North Shore and Lake County that would be perfect for some of these, not to mention your own back yard!
Thank you for sharing this, GREAT ideas!
