If you are in the Chicago area and you love photography, here are some awesome photography events planned around the city!
- Field Museum, Ground Zero 360° - Ground Zero 360˚ portrays the story of September 11th, and the days immediately following, from the unique perspectives of a New York City police commander and a photojournalist. This exhibition features large-scale, previously unpublished photographs, original police radio calls, and artifacts from the World Trade Center. Visitors can also reflect and share their own thoughts and memories of that day. From September 2, 2011 – January 1, 2012.
- Explore Chicago, Neighborhood Photo Walks - Join Explore Chicago for a series of free, two-hour, guided neighborhood walks this summer, led by Chicago Greeter volunteers. All tours depart from the Apple Store, Lincoln Park. After the walk, you’re invited to attend a workshop at the Apple Store to discuss your photos with fellow photographers and to learn how to organize, enhance, and share them. All types of cameras and experience levels are welcome! Head to Lincoln Park on September 18th!
- Chicago Photography Walk- Chicago Photography Walk offers a unique and fun experience. Part storytelling and part photography talk, we share Chicago’s rich history and explore the city from the eye of a photographer. Now through October, every Saturday and Sunday, 10am and 1:30pm.
- DuSable Museum of African-American History , EVERYWHERE with Roy Lewis - Roy Lewis’ masterful eye for documentation through photography has informed and inspired people nationwide for over 50 years. His lens has focused on world leaders, artists and poets as well as everyday people. Lewis’ talent lies in his ability to do more that just capture an image; he has the uncanny ability to tell an engaging visual story. In this exhibition, each photograph creates a narrative for the various expressions of the African-American experience spanning five decades. Part of the DuSable Museum of African-American History’s photographic exhibition series, EVERYWHERE with Roy Lewis is a testament to his unique contribution to African-American photography and history. Opening October 7th, 2011.
