When you think of beauty inside and out, you should think of my good friend Dawn McCarthy. While I never considered Jacksonville “southern” (I thought as soon as you hit Florida, a whole new idea of the South came into play), as soon as I heard Dawn the first time, there is no denying her southern roots y’all.

Dawn came down to speak at my SmugMug group this past week. Being the Jacksonville Smug leader, a premiere Jacksonville Wedding Photographer and speaker on “Investing in Your Clients”, I knew I had to bring her up to speak to my group. Lucky us, we got to swap sessions!

Here is her gorgeous family. This is a mom that was meant to be the mother of boys. They have the perfect blend of tough and soft, and yes, that includes her hubby as well!

We all know how it goes as kids grow up, start having families of their own…they tend to spread out all over the place. My husband and I were the first to move away when we came to Savannah, leaving everyone behind in Illinois. But it happens with families all over, and this family was no exception.

With children all over the country, they knew that getting everyone together at the same time doesn’t happen very often, and when it does, new portraits are in order! With 18 people to coordinate, 7 of them being kids 6 and under! I knew I had my work cut out for me. Luckily my good friend Betty came along with me to help wrangle everyone up…and dance around to get some smiles.

We were scheduled to head to the beach, Hilton Head is famous for them, and the beaches at Palmetto Dunes are some of the best! However, after carefully reconsideration, the parents decided staying close to the house was a better idea. So we made our way to the golf course behind the house and found some beautiful greenery as a background.

Welcome to the World!

I was recently commissioned by a fellow photographer to photograph her brand new nephew. There is nothing sweeter than a newborn! She lived too far away to be able to photograph H herself, so I was lucky enough to do it.

I am one lucky photographer. Not only do I get to take pictures of these wonderful infants…I have been blessed never to have been peed on! I realize I just jinxed myself here, but I just had to say it!

Annika and I spent some time at Mitchell Park Conservatory in Milwaukee, WI. We were tired of the cold, drab winter weather…we needed some warmth and plant life. So here are some shots from our trip. Boy how I wish macros were money makers…I love em!
