When I was contacted by Maggie, she was looking to get some senior portraits done while she was visiting Hilton Head from the cold state of Michigan. Being from Chicago myself, I knew how great it was to be able to go somewhere warm while all my friends were back in the cold….not to mention, being on a beach! We did have some serious winds to contend with, but you know, some studios pay big bucks to drag those huge fans to get the same effect!

She didn’t want traditional senior poses, she didn’t want the usual stuff she would see back home. She wanted the beach! Lucky girl huh?

Well, Miss Maggie couldn’t have been cuter. I wish her luck as she heads to Michigan for pre-med. Hopefully chemistry will be kinder to her than it was me.

Playing Catch Up

Usually the new year allows me a chance to catch up, update my portfolio (will that ever get done?) and plan my year. Little did I know, babies are all the rage right now! So I have been finishing up baby plans from the last year, and starting new ones! I will be posting sneak peeks soon, I promise!

Couple housekeeping items….

The holidays are a popular time for portraits, because it is the time of year you can almost guarantee everyone will be together
(sorry mom we couldn’t make it back this year!)

This family was gathering together in St. Helena Island, SC for the holidays, so I headed north to photograph them. They are blessed to have four generations together, and I was lucky to capture them all.

While we know it isn’t going to be t shirts and shorts weather during December, we didn’t expect it to be below freezing…not to mention the wind! It limited our locations a bit, but it didn’t stop us from getting some fabulous photographs.

Their little guy was adorable, and one of the few toddlers I have seen who loves being in front of the camera. To get those adorable smiles, I pulled out my “the birds are coming!” trick. He had to help me get rid of the birds that kept landing on my head. I love this age as I get be just as silly as they are.

Updates and Excitement

As we start off a new year and the excitement of he holidays die down, I get a chance to take a breather and look ahead.
What will the new year bring for Britt Anderson Photography?

One of my favorite things to do is look through all of my client images to see what I will be adding to my website portfolio. It is always so hard to choose, because with every session you can hear me say, “oh, I love that one!”…”oh wait, no I love THAT one!” But it also gives me a chance to relive those moments with clients, making each one unique and fun.

So that is what you will start seeing in the next couple weeks. New photographs in my portfolio.

You will also start seeing new product guides. This will be a true labor of love. My goal for 2011 is to get more portraits up on client’s walls. Many times it is hard to imagine a large print on your wall. Heck, before I became a photographer big was an 8×10. But I plan on showing you why your family should be filling up your walls and I will be showing you how to do it. With this in mind, I have also restructured my pricing to allow for fantastic savings on wall galleries.

And, because I have a hard time posting without including a picture, here you go.
